"Initially you will think this is a crazy sport, but at the end of the day you'll realise it's not that crazy" - Max Biaggi
After two cancelled track days at The Anglesey Circuit due to bad weather in January it was off to Oulton Park for our first track day on the new bike. Leaving Pentraeth at 6am we were all garaged up in the pits at Oulton by 8am and waiting for the safety briefing to begin so we could get some valuable track time in.
Following a rough old week, the weather looked like it was going to provide us with a cold but dry day.
In the expert class, we were the third session out on track, the bike was primed and ready to rock and Bob seemed quite relaxed too, our groupies had gone off looking for food.
All were agreed as this was the first time Bob was to be riding the bike “with purpose” the idea of the day was purely to familiarise himself with it and we weren’t going to get too hung up about lap times.
The first session went well and Bob was loving the bike, the handling was just the way he liked it and rolling the power on was smooth and purposeful.
A few more sessions before dinner were all good and although lap times weren’t the order of the day, they were dropping by a couple of seconds every session, although getting held up on a quite a few corners Bob managed to end the day with some good “first time out” times.
By mid afternoon the cold was staring to bite and we all agreed it had been a good first run out, bike and Bob were both in one piece and it was time to head for home.
