"Initially you will think this is a crazy sport, but at the end of the day you'll realise it's not that crazy" - Max Biaggi
“Chain” Reaction"
At last our first “Home” track day and a chance for Bob to try the bike on the circuit he knows best. The weather was fantastic and was only surpassed by the breath-taking views of the snow capped mountains. The scene was certainly set.
As in Oulton Park, we were in the third group out and again it was agreed it was only going to be a warm up, not pushing too much too early, however Bob seemed to have forgotten all about that by the time he was trackside and broke all the rules by actively overtaking anything he deemed in his way on the sighting laps. This led to a short sharp word in his ear from the organisers but no real harm done.
Support was fantastic with a good turn out from our sponsors and friends so a quick thank you to one and all.
Second session and the drama began to unfold, as Bob exited Turn 1 the bike dramatically threw its chain. The chain continued on its journey, passing Bob and travelling the entire length of the approach to “The Banking” but fortunately came to rest way off the racing line. Bob continuing to coast off the circuit.
Unceremoniously returned to the pits on a trailer, we began the task of repairing the chain. Job done and onto the third session.
Coming out of “Rocket” and approaching “Peel” the bike threw its dummy out for a second time and once again, to a volley of slow clapping Bob was returned to the paddock on 4 wheels. The enquiry began as to who actually said the chain was repaired correctly. The jury is still out on that one!!
Following lunch it was off again and saw Bob really pushing hard. All seemed well, when on the last lap at “Peel” he had a moment with the back wheel coming round a little further than he would have wished. With his heart back where it belonged, a cruise into the paddock proved that the back tyre had given up.

Our day was over; although everyone was relieved that bike and rider were in one piece.
So that’s it. Next stop March 20th / 21st and round 1 of the season. Hope to see you there.
